The meeting entitled “The Vision of United Europe through the eyes of Robert Shuman – The Father of the Common Europe” was held on 15th November, at II General Secondary School in Gorzów Wielkopolski, on  Przemysłowa 22 Street.. The lecturer,  prof. dr hab. Paweł Leszczyński from  the Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzów Wielkopolski who presented the figure of  Robert Schuman and his political deeds. The of Robert Schuman’s postulate was evoked, which eventually had lead to a lasting peace in Europe after the Second World War. Schuman in 1950 made a declaration about the settlement of supranational union.  His action  led to agreement between France and Germany on the joint management of steel and coal industries in the Ruhr area that  initiated the formation of the European Coal and Steel Community and, as a consequence, the creation of the European Community, which has been functioning as the European Union since 2009. The  Schuman Declaration was announced on 9th of May  1950, and due to this 9th May is  celebrated as Europe Day.

In the second part of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to share their views regarding the functioning of the European Union. The main focus of the discussion were the positive and negative consequences of EU directives.
